About Rosa: Mediumship
I grew up in a middle class, ethnic neighborhood in Queens New York. As a young girl, I felt a deep connection to people who were in crisis. In college I immersed myself in sociology, psychology and medical courses and found what I thought was my true calling- medical sociology. I went on to graduate school, received my PhD from Columbia University and went on to postdoctoral studies at Stanford University as an Andrew Mellon Fellow.
My interests turned to HIV and I was fortunate to study alongside clinicians and scientists from around the world. Laboratories and hospital settings brought me closer to the world of science and medicine but I missed the academic diversity of a teaching/research institution.
In 1996, I joined the faculty at UNC-Chapel Hill, NC and expanded my research to mental health and illness. I moved back to New York in 2001 and joined the Vera Institute of Justice, working with children in the foster care system. I found the immediacy and hands-on quality of policy work rewarding but I still felt my work didn’t get to the root cause of suffering or have a lasting benefit in improving a person’s quality of life.
In 2003 a colleague gave me a copy of Soul Retrieval, by Sandra Ingerman. I was intrigued her explanation of shamanic healing as a way to heal trauma. Later that year I myself received a Soul Retrieval and was instantly transported into the celestial realms. I could see, feel, and engage with power animals and other helping spirits. I felt completely restored after that experience, whole and complete, yet I could not fully understand how it happened.
In 2004 I journeyed to Brazil, to a healing sanctuary known as the Casa de Dom Inacio. I witnessed psychic surgeries and had ample opportunities to speak with people who had such surgeries. I experienced profound energy healing while sitting quietly in the meditation rooms. At the end of my visit, I was told I was a medium and upon my return to the States, I immersed myself in the study of alternative energy healing modalities: Shamanism, Reiki, Hypnotherapy, Past Life Regression, and Life between Lives Spiritual Regression. Every modality, while different in form, led to the same result, the same new vision: the gift of energy healing through the assistance of one’s Soul and Enlightened Spiritual Beings.
Now 2024, twenty years later, I’ve come full circle. I realize how my extensive knowledge in the world of science and medicine works hand in hand with my gifts as a healing medium. I navigate both worlds and assist people in their everyday and spiritual lives. I believe both are vital for an individual’s overall health and wellbeing.

Rosa Haritos, PhD, CHt, is a graduate of Barnard College and Columbia University, New York. She was an Andrew Mellon Fellow at Stanford University and has taught and engaged in research studies at several Ivy League Universities as well as the Pasteur Institute in Paris France and the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda Maryland. She is a Medium, Shamanic Practitioner, Certified Hypnotherapist, Reiki Master/Teacher. She has a private healing practice in Hansville Washington.
